Your Welcome Home/ Ownie Davy's / Cunningham's Fancy (Reels)

from King of the Blind by Joey Abarta

/

about

Jerry O’Sullivan recorded this first reel on his collection of the piper O’Farrell’s music O’Sullivan Meets O’Farrell. I can find little on Ownie Davey, but the great Chicago musician Johnny McGreevy got this tune from him. I learnt it from a tape of Johnny someone gave me years ago. The last reel is a version of “The Fisherman’s Lilt”. I would always associate this tune with the fiddler Aggie White, but Touhey recorded it in this form and I decided to put it up into the high key of D to suit the pipes.
